SLUSHTAINABILITY

This is what we're doing to address our Main Event emissions for Slush 2025.

SLUSH FOREST

At Slush, we want to leave the world in a better place than we found it. In 2025, we’re bringing our sustainability efforts closer to home—because Finnish nature holds a special meaning to us. It’s beautifully rough, but also fragile and rare.

By donating to the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation, we’re permanently protecting Finnish endangered forests through an organization that offers a direct and lasting impact.

The direct CO₂ emissions of organizing the Slush Main Event is 308 tCO₂e per year. During the next two years, we will permanently protect enough Finnish forest to capture 308 tCO₂e per year, in perpetuity. In 2025 we’re starting with protecting 40 hectares of forest, which covers 154 tCO₂e per year in perpetuity.

Through this initiative, we’re building a transparent, meaningful, and local approach to our Slushtainability.

RECYCLING POINTS

We have 35 recycling stations and each has a volunteer to help you out with sorting. It might seem intimidating at first, but it’s very simple with a little help.

Thanks to this operation, we didn’t have any mixed waste by our event visitors in 2023. Let’s keep it up, shall we?

MERCHANDISE

We collaborate with Pure Waste for our merch, as their commitment to sustainability uses 99% less water and produces 50% less CO2 compared to similar products made from virgin materials.

REUSING DECOR

Some of our decorative elements have been used year after year.

If you’ve been attending Slush for several years, you might not have realized that you’ve been standing next to the same plexiglass curtain installation by Sun Effects multiple times.

CUP RECYCLING WITH HUHTAMAKI

We’ve switched to fiber-based cups that will be separately collected for recycling so that the fiber can be used again as raw material for packaging.

We’re teaming up with Huhtamaki to collect and recycle all cups at Slush. Progress will be tracked throughout the event.

Help us reach our goal.

SUN EFFECTS EFFORTS

Emissions from transport are a significant environmental challenge, and therefore Jylhä Logistics Oy has also invested significantly in sustainable development solutions. The company is committed to promoting carbon neutrality and aims to lead the way as a Finnish family-owned logistics company. Jylhä Logistics has been investing in lower-emission gas trucks since 2019. The trucks run on renewable liquefied biogas (LBG), which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by around 90% compared to traditional fossil fuels.

Environmentally friendly logistics is crucial for companies striving to meet tightened emissions standards, this makes Jylhä Logistics a natural choice as a logistics partner also for creating more sustainable events.

TRAVELING TO SLUSH

You can get straight from your flight to Slush main event venue with one train in 38 minutes. Several trams, trains and buses will take you through the darkness from city centre to Messukeskus.
